Training Course: Sexual Violence  – Understanding and Exploring responses

This course will examine the broad scale that sexual violence encompasses, from Rape to FGM. Despite stereotypes, it is not just confined to female victims or male perpetrators nor carried out by strangers on the street at night. We will explore the legal context in the UK and what recent changes in law have meant for victims and in light of some recent historical cases (Savile et al) what the law means in those cases. The course addresses some of the myths around sexual violence and looks in detail at required proceedings as well as victim’s needs and how to meet them and at what longer term needs may need to be met. This one day course is aimed at all professionals who want to enhance their understanding of sexual violence. This course will be CPD certified by the end of Feb 2017.
